A place to learn, grow and share
Who we are
The Leyton Boundary Garden is a community garden run by local volunteers. We meet regularly to look after the garden and grow produce together, and we share everything that we grow. We also run regular workshops and other events. All our activities are free and open to all, and everyone is welcome in our garden.
How do I get involved?
Join us for our weekly community gardening club sessions at the garden, every Saturday from 10am - 1pm. Subscribe to our newsletter, or keep an eye on our noticeboard and social media accounts for news of other events and workshops. For access to the garden at other times talk to one of our volunteers or email info@leytonboundarygarden.com.
How we got here
The Leyton Boundary Garden was started by accident in 2018 by a group of locals who wanted to create a garden managed by the community for the benefit of all. We were offered the use of a disused access road next to the cricket ground on Brewster Road, E10. Since then we have transformed the site into a thriving green haven with accessible growing beds, a polytunnel, and wildflower meadow. We are run by volunteers and funded solely through grants and fundraising. We all share the produce and learn as we grow.
We have to keep the gates locked when no one is around, but the garden is a community space for the enjoyment of everyone. Volunteer gardeners can become keyholders and access the garden at any time and take more responsibility for maintenance. Drop us a line to find out how. We're keen for the garden to be used as much as possible: if you are a non-profit organisation looking for a space to hold events or to run gardening activities do get in touch.
Grow
Get involved and grow delicious herbs, vegetables and fruit from seed and enjoy the beauty of our summer wildflower meadow. Meet people, connect with nature, and teach your kids where food comes from (and how tricky it can be to grow).
Learn
Most of us are enthusiastic but inexpert gardeners. We are committed to learning from each other: how to care for plants, develop new skills and cook new recipes using fresh, seasonal and organic produce.
Share
Make new friendships by looking after the garden and nurturing plants with members of our community, and enjoy the fresh produce we harvest together.
We want the garden to be a place that’s…
inclusive and welcoming to all members of the community - to visit participate and enjoy,
calming relaxing and promotes well-being,
for connection, knowledge sharing and working together,
which inspires, empowers and supports community-led activity,
and which promotes organic gardening and ecological practices.
Join us!
We welcome and encourage all to visit and participate in our community garden, whether that’s in the comments section online, or in-person at the Leyton Boundary Garden every Wednesday from 4pm-7pm and Saturday from 10am until 1pm, during the growing season (March - November).
Everyone is welcome, and we look forward to seeing you.
Our Community Compost scheme
We use a cold composting system at Leyton Boundary Garden. We can take all your compostable waste and turn it into gardener’s gold - simply drop it through the compost window at the front gate, whether we’re closed or not. We’ll do the rest!

Governance
Leyton Boundary Garden runs as a Constituted Community Group (‘Association’). We have a constitution, a Core Admininstration group, an Advisory Circle and a wider volunteer community. Our Core Administration group are voted-in at our AGMs (‘Annual General Meetings’). Our Advisory Circle is comprised of 10-12 volunteer participants who run for a term of one year from the time of our AGM.
